Bing Webmaster Tools
What is Bing Webmaster Tools?
Bing Webmaster Tools (BWT) is Microsoft’s free tool for monitoring a site’s visibility in Bing. It is analogous to Google Search Console, but for the Bing ecosystem.
Why BWT matters for AEO
Microsoft Copilot is powered by the Bing search index. To be cited by Copilot, a site must be indexed in Bing. BWT gives you:
- Index verification: Confirm that pages are indexed in Bing
- Keyword data: Keywords driving traffic from Bing
- Crawl report: See if Bingbot is reaching the site
- Schema report: Validate schema markup for Bing
- Site Scan: Technical SEO audit from Bing’s perspective
How to get started
- Go to bing.com/webmasters
- Sign in with a Microsoft account
- Add the site and verify ownership (DNS record or HTML tag)
- Import the configuration from Google Search Console (time saver)
FAQ
Is BWT important if I don’t get much traffic from Bing? Yes. Bing is the foundation for Microsoft Copilot and Meta AI (via Bing search). Being indexed in Bing is a baseline requirement for those AI channels.
Can I import from Google Search Console? Yes. BWT has a built-in import feature that copies site configuration from GSC.
